Workable Sets the Standard as Africa’s First WELL-Rated Flex Workspace

Workable Nairobi becomes Africa’s first shared workspace operator to achieve the WELL Coworking Rating, setting a new benchmark for wellness-led workspaces.

NAIROBI, WESTLANDS, KENYA, August 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Workable, Nairobi’s premium shared workspace provider operating 40,000 square feet at Sanlam | Allianz Tower, Westlands, has achieved the WELL Coworking Rating, awarded by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and administered in partnership with The Instant Group. Workable becomes the first shared workspace operator on the African continent to hold this distinction, a landmark for corporate real estate in Kenya and across sub-Saharan Africa.

The achievement builds on Workable’s recognition as the first EDGE Certified shared workspace in East and Central Africa and as a finalist at the SBID International Design Awards, positioning it as the region’s most comprehensively certified wellness-led workspace operator.

“We built Workable on the belief that the physical environment is an active participant in human performance. The WELL Coworking Rating is the third-party validation of that conviction. For our members navigating ESG commitments, this certification is the evidence they have been asking for,” said Samir Patel, CEO, Workable.

The WELL Coworking Rating is an evidence-based framework grounded in the globally respected WELL Building Standard v2. It assesses how a space actively supports the health, performance and well-being of its occupants across 42 feature parts spanning seven action areas: Restorative Places; Productive Work Environments; Health-Promoting Food and Movement; Air and Water Quality; Maintenance and Operation Policies; Wellbeing Education and Engagement; and Innovation. A location must earn a minimum of 23 out of 53 possible points through rigorous independent third-party review. The rating is renewed annually.

Administered by IWBI, a public benefit corporation whose framework is underpinned by peer-reviewed medical research, the WELL Building Standard is active in 137 countries with more than 480 million square metres of enrolled space globally. Fewer than a handful of coworking operators worldwide have achieved the WELL Coworking Rating.

For multinational businesses and ESG-conscious employers operating in Nairobi, Workable’s brand philosophy “Love the Work” is now backed by independent certification across three pillars: Human Performance, supported through natural daylight, clean air management, ergonomic standards and acoustic separation; Corporate Stability, delivered through documented air and water quality protocols, cleaning regimes and nutritional policies that meet international corporate standards; and Sustainability Leadership, with combined EDGE and WELL credentials satisfying both the environmental and human health pillars of a comprehensive ESG real estate strategy.

“This is not a trophy on a shelf. The WELL Coworking Rating means the world now has independent proof that the standards we have always held ourselves to are real, verified and sustained,” said Samir Patel.
